Table, diagram and schema-editing controls
Explore real table structure, arrange the schema diagram, and review SQL before applying a schema change.
Step-by-step guidance.
Before you start
- Open the named screen in Rumata. Available controls may depend on your account, permissions, and resource state.
Find and inspect a table
Open Database → Tables for the interactive schema diagram. An empty or failed schema load is not proof that the database has no data.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Find table or column… | Search the diagram for matching table and column names. |
| Table / column details | Inspect types, keys and relationships in the selected table. These are schema details, not a result set or generated sample records. |
| Open SQL | Open the selected table in SQL Editor. Run a bounded query for actual records; reviewing a diagram does not read all table rows. |
| Edit table | Open the schema editor for the selected table. Changes are drafts until Review SQL and Execute SQL. |
| New Table | Open the schema editor for a new table when a database connection is available. Nothing is created merely by opening it. |
| Refresh database schema | Reload current structure after changes. Inspect a schema-loading error before retrying a migration. |
Arrange and export the schema diagram
Diagram layout controls change the view, not database records or SQL schema.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tables / Choose visible tables / Show all | Choose which existing tables appear. Hiding a table does not delete it. |
| Arrange diagram | Arrange visible tables Left to right or Top to bottom. |
| Zoom / Fit diagram / Minimap | Navigate a large schema or fit the current view. |
| Undo diagram change / Redo diagram change | Undo or redo layout changes. These actions do not undo SQL execution or recover deleted records. |
| Key columns only | Reduce the view to key columns without changing the underlying tables. |
| Relationship line | Inspect a relationship reported by the schema. Selecting a line does not create or remove a foreign key. |
| Download SVG image | Export the visible schema as an image. |
| Download diagram JSON / Restore layout from JSON… | Export diagram metadata or restore its layout. This is not a database backup or SQL restore; use Operations for SQL export and database recovery. |
Review and apply schema changes
New Table and Edit table open the schema editor. Review the exact generated SQL before changing a database used by your application.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Table and column fields / Add column | Prepare names, data types, keys, defaults and allowed null values in the draft. Available fields depend on the table and type. |
| Remove column | Mark a column for removal. Review SQL warns about removed columns and their data before execution. |
| Review SQL | Generate the proposed CREATE or ALTER statements without applying them. |
| Back to editing | Return from the SQL review to revise the draft. |
| Open in SQL Editor | Move the proposed SQL to the editor for inspection or editing. Opening it does not execute it. |
| Execute SQL | Apply the reviewed changes together; an execution error rolls them back. Wait for success and refreshed schema before relying on the result. |
| Cancel / Close | Leave without executing the draft. If execution is in progress, wait for its reported result. |
