Embedded editor menu reference
Look up file commands, text editing, navigation, debugging, and terminal actions in Rumata’s full code editor.
Step-by-step guidance.
Before you start
- Open the named screen in Rumata. Available controls may depend on your account, permissions, and resource state.
File menu
These commands work on the development machine. They do not publish a Rumata frontend. Browser restrictions, the selected file, and installed extensions affect which commands are available.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| New Text File / New File… | Start an empty document or choose a new file type. Save it to keep it as a named workspace file. |
| New Window / New Window with Profile | Request another editor window, optionally using a selected editor profile. This does not create a Rumata factory. |
| Open File / Open Folder / Open Workspace from File / Open Recent | Open the selected file, folder, saved editor workspace, or recent location. |
| Add Folder to Workspace / Save Workspace As / Duplicate Workspace | Manage the editor’s collection of folders and its workspace configuration. Duplicating the workspace does not duplicate Rumata databases or workflows. |
| Save / Save As / Save All | Write the current file, save under another name, or write all pending files. Pushing to Git and deploying remain separate actions. |
| Share | Open the editor’s available sharing commands. Inspect the destination before sharing code or links. |
| Auto Save | Toggle automatic saving of editor files. |
| Preferences | Open editor configuration choices, including settings and keyboard shortcuts. |
| Revert File | Discard unsaved changes in the current file and reload its saved contents. |
| Close Editor / Close Folder / Confirm Before Close | Close a file tab, close the current folder, or choose whether leaving the editor requires confirmation. Closing does not delete a file. |
Edit and Selection menus
Select the intended editor before using a text command. Multiple cursors apply a change in multiple places at once.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Undo / Redo | Step backward or forward through editor changes. This is not a rollback of database operations or published workflows. |
| Cut / Copy / Paste | Move or copy selected text through the clipboard. Browser clipboard permission may affect availability. |
| Find / Replace / Find in Files / Replace in Files | Search one file or the workspace. Replacement changes text; review matches before applying it. |
| Toggle Line Comment / Toggle Block Comment | Add or remove comment syntax around selected code. |
| Emmet: Expand Abbreviation | Expand a supported abbreviation into markup or styling. |
| Select All / Expand Selection / Shrink Selection | Choose all text, a larger code region, or a smaller region. |
| Copy Line Up / Copy Line Down / Duplicate Selection | Insert a copy of the line or selection. |
| Move Line Up / Move Line Down | Reorder the selected line without copying it. |
| Add Cursor Above / Add Cursor Below / Add Cursors to Line Ends | Create extra editing positions so typing affects several locations. |
| Add Next Occurrence / Add Previous Occurrence / Select All Occurrences | Select matching text in additional locations for simultaneous editing. |
| Switch to Cmd+Click for Multi-Cursor / Column Selection Mode | Change how you create multiple cursors or select a rectangular block. Shortcut labels vary by operating system. |
Run menu
Debugging runs a program while allowing you to pause and inspect it. Running code can contact real services and modify files or data.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start Debugging / Run Without Debugging | Start the selected program with debugging attached, or run it normally. |
| Stop Debugging / Restart Debugging | Stop the active debug session or start it again. This does not undo effects already produced. |
| Open Configurations / Add Configuration | Inspect or create the project’s debugger setup. |
| Step Over / Step Into / Step Out / Continue | Execute one statement, enter a called function, return from the current function, or resume until the next pause. |
| Toggle Breakpoint / New Breakpoint | Set a place or condition where execution should pause. |
| Enable All Breakpoints / Disable All Breakpoints / Remove All Breakpoints | Activate, temporarily ignore, or delete the debugger’s pause points. |
| Install Additional Debuggers | Find debugger extensions. Installing one changes the editor environment. |
Terminal menu
Use the terminal to run commands on your development machine. Commands and tasks can change your project; opening the menu does not run them.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| New Terminal / Split Terminal / New Terminal Window | Open a command shell, add a shell beside the current one, or request a separate terminal window when supported. |
| Run Task / Run Build Task | Choose and execute a configured task or the project’s build task. |
| Run Active File / Run Selected Text | Send the current file or selected text for execution. Inspect its contents first. |
| Show Running Tasks / Restart Running Task / Terminate Task | Inspect, restart, or stop an editor task. Stopping it cannot reverse completed operations. |
| Configure Tasks / Configure Default Build Task | Set up reusable commands and select the default build. |
Help menu
These are the embedded editor’s help resources. Use Rumata’s documentation for factory, workflow, billing, and publishing behavior.
